In a world where inequality between genders is prevalent, Ahl Heissa (The People of Heissa) presents a small village in Upper Egypt where women fight for equal opportunities and representation. Ahl Heissa sheds light on different problems faced by women today such as women’s education, early marriage, prevention from inheritance, and reproductive and sexual rights. In different parts of the game, participants either find themselves in the shoes of women, having to deal with daily and systematic injustices or in a position of power in which they hold the key of women’s futures.
Not only does this simulation game shed light on today’s gender inequality, but it also helps participants imagine ways of solving the conflict through networking, negotiation skills and understanding common and challenging social traditions and how these traditions can be addressed and dealt with to ensure the development of a just and fair society that serves all its members equally.
